While you may be tempted to procrastinate, it is better for you and your guests that you tackle cleaning in one fell swoop. To keep things simple for Orangeville Apartment residents when it comes to cleaning, our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has outlined five cleaning steps to consider when you have limited time and are looking to sneak in a quick and effective clean up.

With Shoppers Drug Mart located at 25 Broadway, which is a three-minute drive and 11-minute walk from the Embassy Apartments and Mill Place Apartments. This means you can easily pick up last-minute cleaning materials if you’re in a pinch.

1. Collect All the Garbage

The first step when it comes to tidying up your apartment is to survey your surroundings with a complete walkthrough. Grab a garbage bag and walk around your entire apartment space and don’t leave any room out. As you’re going along pick up and throw away any trash or unnecessary items that are currently taking up space. This is also the perfect opportunity to empty the little trashcans in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Once you’re done in each of the individual rooms, empty the big can in the kitchen and put it down the garbage chute.

2. Pick up Clothes and Straighten Items

Pick up any clothes that you’ve tossed on the floor and put them back in your closet or into a laundry hamper. Remember to take the dirty towels out of the bathroom and replace them with fresh ones. Remove the temptation to scatter your clothes around your room by investing in a laundry hamper. For a large selection of laundry hampers and storage tools, drop by Canadian Tire located at 99 First Street, which is a three-minute drive and 14-minute walk from the Embassy Apartments and a five-minute drive and 11-minute walk from the Mill Place Apartments.

3. Eliminate Dishes

Make sure you keep an eye out for dirty dishes and immediately take them back to the kitchen and wash them. While many of us say we’ll let our dishes air dry, nip this bad habit in the bud by drying and putting them in your cabinets right away. Keep your kitchen looking fresh and welcoming by making its cleanliness a priority.

4. Dusting and Vacuuming

Prepare two rags for cleaning: one for wood and another for additional surfaces around your apartment. On the wood-dusting rag, spray a wood cleaning substance and simply dampen the other with water. Move from apartment room to room dusting everything and anything that could possibly collect dust. It is best to do this before vacuuming; as it will eliminate the excess dust and will leave you will a deeper clean. Next, vacuum the entire apartment and make sure you hit the high traffic areas first if you’re strapped for time.

5. One Final Wipe Down

After all of that work is done, head back to the kitchen and bathroom and wipe down these surfaces. Use a multi-surface cleaner for the countertops, microwave, stove, sink, tubs and toilets and take this as your last opportunity before guests arrive to put those miscellaneous items away.
